Indiana Plan for Equal Employment
The Indiana Plan’s mission is to address low minority participation within the Indiana construction industry. Indiana Plan is a recruitment and training program that works to expand construction apprenticeships and help employers meet workforce needs by offering education, training and creating a pathway to high-wage careers for a diverse coalition of workers.
If you are a minority or woman worker seeking a career in Indiana’s union construction industry, you can apply online to get the process started.
If you are a construction contractor that needs assistance finding and training minority and women candidates for employment, contact the Indiana Plan’s Indianapolis office at (317) 639-4661 for information. We can help you stay in compliance with all applicable federal mandates.
The Indiana Plan for Equal Employment is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation. Thank you for your support!

Let’s Build Something Together
You’ve come to the right place to CONSTRUCT YOUR FUTURE! There are numerous benefits available to you through a career in the construction trades – and they all BEGIN WITH AN APPRENTICESHIP
Why Construction?
The demand for skilled workers has been increasingly steady, even during times of economic decline. And through a certified apprenticeship program, you can learn the trade while you earn wages – FROM DAY ONE.
Can I really make a living in construction?
Absolutely! The annual wage for the construction trades in Indiana was $xx,xxx in 20xx, which was higher than the annual wage for other occupations at $xx,xxx.
How do I start my career in construction?
To learn the trade, you need to enroll in a registered apprenticeship program. Apprenticeships are offered at little to no cost, which means there’s no debt to repay when the apprenticeship is over (unlike that of a traditional four year, post high-school education).
Apprentice Success Stories
Never before has there been so much opportunity in an industry that is so vital to Indiana and to our country. A career in construction is a career you can be proud to be a part of, in an industry where you can truly make a difference by helping to build your community.
