Union Construction Apprenticeship Expo

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Union Construction Industry and the Indiana Plan joined forces with church and community leaders to host a Construction Apprenticeship Expo on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Light of the World Church at 4646 Michigan Road in Indianapolis.

More than 300 community residents from Marion County attended the event at the Light of the World Church. Representatives from Hunt Construction Group and more than nine union construction apprenticeship programs provided information regarding entrance requirements, career paths and apprenticeship training opportunities.

Indiana Plan accepted over 130 applications on site. An additional pre-apprenticeship training class was be held for those applicants starting Aug. 10-21, 2015. Our goal is to help fill the void many JATCs are currently experiencing and get qualified workers out in the field.

We had 19 people attend the orientation and 16 enroll in the class. All 16 passed the drug test, completed the two-week class and OSHA training on Aug. 21, 2015.

On Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, 11 were placed on jobs.
